KUWAIT CITY, June 3: State Security Court of Appeals sentenced a citizen to three years in prison after convicting him of inciting sectarian strife and promoting ideology harmful to national unity. The Court of Appeals overturned the lower court’s ruling that had refrained from issuing a sentence against the defendant, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The court acquitted a citizen of charges of insulting the Lebanese Republic, supporting the terrorist organization Hezbollah, and promoting its ideology on social media. The Court of Appeals overturned the lower court’s three-year prison sentence. Meanwhile, the Court of Appeals acquitted a woman of charges of disseminating false news on social media with the intent to incite panic among the public during the recent war.
