KUWAIT CITY, July 11: Kuwaiti equestrian sport is mourning the passing of former Equestrian Club vice president Sheikh Ali Al-Humoud Al-Salman Al-Sabah, a pioneering figure in local horse racing and the founder of the renowned Al-Nashama Stable.
Sheikh Ali Al-Humoud played a major role in the development of Kuwaiti horse racing and built a remarkable legacy through his achievements in the sport. The Equestrian Club president and board members expressed their deepest condolences to his family and the entire racing community, describing him as one of the sport’s key pillars.
Founded as one of Kuwait’s most historic racing stables, Al-Nashama Stable enjoyed a distinguished record filled with major victories and memorable achievements.
The stable’s greatest accomplishments include winning the prestigious His Highness the Amir’s Cup three times. It claimed consecutive titles in 1998 and 1999 with the horse Mabrouk, ridden by jockey Haider Yuga, before adding a third Amir’s Cup triumph in 2002 through Labed, ridden by Ali Al-Saffar.
Renowned trainer Yousef Al-Kandari was responsible for preparing the Al-Nashama horses that delivered all three Amir’s Cup victories. The stable also secured the points league championship, the Opening Cup, the Martyrs Cup, and numerous other prestigious trophies, cementing its place among the elite names in Kuwaiti horse racing history.
