KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8: A delegation of Kuwaiti handball referees left early yesterday for Slovenia to participate in the Challenge Tournament before heading to Hungary for the Cell Cup, as part of an intensive preparation program ahead of the new sports season.
The participation is designed to provide the referees with valuable international exposure and the opportunity to officiate a large number of matches against teams with different playing styles and technical standards. The experience is expected to sharpen their decision-making and improve their ability to handle a wide range of match situations.
The program also includes a physical training camp aimed at enhancing fitness and overall physical readiness. Maintaining a high level of fitness is crucial for referees to keep pace with the action and make accurate decisions throughout a match.
Alongside the physical preparations, the referees will attend technical and academic lectures covering the latest amendments and updates to the international handball rules. The sessions will also examine and analyze different refereeing cases, helping to ensure consistency in the interpretation and application of the rules.
International referees Ahmed Al-Mutawa and Abdulrahman Al-Mulla are part of the international lecturers’ team. They will contribute to the academic and technical sessions, drawing on their extensive experience in international competitions to share their knowledge with the participating referees.
The European tour represents an important opportunity for the Kuwaiti referees to gain international experience, interact with different refereeing schools, and further develop their physical, technical, and theoretical skills.
The program underlines the growing focus on strengthening handball refereeing in Kuwait. With the game continuing to evolve, referees must keep pace with changes to the laws while maintaining high physical and technical standards to ensure they are fully prepared for the demands of the new season.
