KUWAIT CITY, April 28: Police have apprehended a Kuwaiti and his son for assaulting an Egyptian doctor at the Pediatric Department of the Adan Hospital, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added, the hospital administration in its strongest terms had denounced the incident and has taken necessary legal measures. In the meantime, the Kuwait Medical Association has said it will not compromise or waive the legal right of the doctor and has promised to take legal action saying such attacks require deterrent measures. However, the Al-Seyassah daily said the Kuwaiti has been referred to the Public Prosecution and the so has been released on KD 100 bail.
The doctor has given his testimony. A medical source told the daily the doctor was attacked by a Kuwaiti and his 14-yearold son with some medical instruments from the medical examination room. The doctor was hit in the head and also suffered some bruises on the body.
The source said this happened when the son was accompanied by his mother and another sibling and during examination started disturbing the papers on the doctor’s table.
However, the doctor did not mind him but was surprised when he entered the room and started insulting the doctor and doctor told him that what he was doing was inappropriate because he was older than him. The son left and a few minutes later returned holding a cell phone in his hand and told the doctor to talk to his father but the doctor refused. Sometime later the father came and assaulted the doctor, the doctor lost consciousness temporarily after he was hit on the back of his head and was kept under observation.
