Kuwaiti describes Jahra residents as ‘hackers’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The Criminal Court sentenced a citizen to three years imprisonment and obliged him to pay a fine of KD 10,000 for violating the national unity law by ridiculing a segment of the society.

The Public Prosecution Department charged the citizen based on a lawsuit filed by Attorney Yusuf Al- Meza’al from Jahra after the former shared a video describing the inhabitants of Jahra as ‘hackers’, indicating they infiltrated Kuwait illegally. The lawyer said the citizen violated decree number 19/2012 concerning the national unity and Kuwait penal law in addition to number 9/2001 concerning the usage of telephones.
