KUWAIT CITY, July 11: A Kuwaiti dentist has been arrested on charges of possessing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for alleged personal use and trafficking, following an operation by the General Department of Criminal Investigation.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the arrest was carried out by the Department for Combating Trafficking in Persons and Negative Phenomena as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on lawbreakers and combat negative social phenomena.

Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly used social media platforms to offer narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in exchange for engaging in immoral acts. Following extensive surveillance and intelligence gathering, security personnel set up a carefully planned ambush and caught the suspect red-handed inside a rented room.

Authorities said officers seized two bags containing hashish, three bags of methamphetamine, 10 Lyrica capsules, a bag containing narcotic powder, and drug paraphernalia from the location.

Further investigations led to a search of the suspect's residence after obtaining a warrant from the Public Prosecution. During the search, officers reportedly found additional quantities of narcotics hidden inside the suspect's personal closet, including a plastic container of methamphetamine, 46 Captagon tablets, three pieces of hashish of varying sizes, and various psychotropic pills.

The suspect and all seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.
