KUWAIT CITY, Sep 16: Kuwaiti cricket squad secured a triumphant victory over their Saudi counterparts, edging them out with a score of 143 runs to 142 in the inaugural Gulf Championship hosted in Doha.
Captain Mahmoud Abdullah, the team's manager, expressed his elation in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following the match. He highlighted the exceptional effort put forth by the Kuwaiti team in both halves of the game, ultimately leading them to victory in terms of total runs. He also clarified that a win in a match awards two points, while a draw earns one point.
This championship operates on a league system, accumulating points throughout the competition. The two teams with the highest point totals progress to the final round, where the ultimate tournament champion is determined.
Abdullah elaborated on the rules of the game, emphasizing that both teams actively participate, with one wielding the bat while the other defends the field, preventing the ball from escaping. Each team is composed of 11 players, and scoring is based on the number of runs achieved.
The team manager expressed his contentment with the players' performance and voiced his hopes for their continued excellence, aiming to reach the final and clinch the coveted title of the first Gulf Cricket Championship.

The Gulf Cricket Championship, which Qatar is hosting, commenced today and will run until the 23rd of this month.
