KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Abdullah Al-Osaimi, sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to seven years’ imprisonment with hard labour and fined him KD 50,000 after convicting him of possessing narcotic and psychotropic substances with intent to use and traffic them.
In its ruling, the court said the defendant merited judicial leniency in light of his clean criminal record and the absence of any previous convictions. Accordingly, and in application of Article 83 of the Penal Code, the court reduced the penalty from life imprisonment to the sentence imposed.
