Kuwaiti citizen acquitted in fraud, forgery lawsuit

KUWAIT CITY, April 18: The Misdemeanor Circuit of the Court of First Instance acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen of charges of fraud, deception, and forgery of a private agreement due to insufficient evidence and the court’s doubts regarding the validity of the accusations against him. The Public Prosecution had previously accused the citizen of defrauding the victim of KD 35,000 by convincing him to purchase electrical devices.

The charges also included issuing a bank cheque bearing a forged signature. Lawyer Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan presented the defendant’s defense, pointing to the lack of evidence proving any sale or agreement between the two parties, in addition to the absence of any documents in the case file supporting the plaintiff’s claims. The court stated that the acquittal was issued after it was established that there was no conclusive evidence to support the plaintiff’s claims. It added that the investigations did not yield any new evidence, and that the defendant consistently denied the charges from the beginning of the investigation
