KUWAIT CITY, Jan 7: The Criminal Security Sector’s Hawally Investigation Department has closed a misdemeanor fraud case in Maidan Hawally after arresting a Kuwaiti citizen who confessed to defrauding a female expatriate by exploiting her desire to marry and her approaching spinsterhood, misappropriating money, and selling items she had purchased, including two mobile phones.
According to the case file, a 34-year-old non-Arab woman who works for an accounting firm filed a report at the Maidan Hawally Police Station, stating that she had been defrauded by a 1990-born Kuwaiti citizen. She explained that she met the accused through his frequent visits to her workplace. He deceived her by expressing his desire to marry her. Claiming financial difficulties, he asked for her help in furnishing their marital home. She subsequently went with him to a furniture store and paid KD 1,700 for the furniture. She had also registered two mobile phone lines in her name with two-year contracts and purchased several electrical appliances, including a washing machine and a refrigerator, on an installment plan. The total cost of the appliances and phone contracts amounted to approximately KD 1,800.
