Kuwaiti and Egyptians Jailed 7 Years, Fined KD 5 Million Over Fake Chalet Sales in Kuwait and Sharm El-Sheikh

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: The Kuwait Criminal Court has upheld a sentence of seven years in prison and a fine of KD 5 million against a defendant involved in a major fraud case related to the sale of fake chalets in Kuwait and Sharm El-Sheikh.

The Tenth Felony Court Circuit rejected the defendant’s appeal and confirmed the original ruling, which imposed the same penalties handed down to a Kuwaiti citizen and several Egyptian defendants involved in the case.

According to court details, the defendants were convicted of jointly misappropriating more than KD 3 million through a fraudulent real estate scheme. They allegedly promoted and sold fake chalet projects through real estate exhibitions in Kuwait, claiming ownership or availability of properties that did not exist.

The court also found the defendants guilty of laundering the illegally obtained funds after collecting money from victims through the fraudulent sales scheme.

The ruling confirms the imprisonment sentence and financial penalty, bringing the case to another legal stage after the rejection of the objection.
