KUWAIT CITY, May 13: A Kuwaiti and a Syrian have been arrested for violating the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan and attacking a police officer, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added this happened at dawn near the Roman Catholic Church in Salhiya when the suspects were eating, making disdainful gestures and threatening to cause harm to passersby. When the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry was informed about the incident, an officer was sent to the area but the duo beat him causing him injuries.

A backup force was sent to the area and the suspects were taken into custody. They resisted the arrest but were overpowered and handcuffed. They have been referred for investigation. Initial reports show they were under the influence of drugs. Police have also seized from them a quantity of drugs.
