LAUSANNE, Dec 10: The head of the Kuwaiti American Football Committee, Madi Al-Mutairi, highlighted the recent meetings held to advance the sport’s development in Kuwait and beyond. These gatherings included the former Vice President of the Asian Federation and founder of the sport in Kuwait, Sheikh Mishaal Talal, who hosted key figures such as the President of the International Federation, Frenchman Pierre Troche, and the President of the Asian Federation, Malaysian Daryl Nathatial. The meetings took place at the request of the Kuwaiti Committee on the sidelines of the International Federation’s General Assembly at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Al-Mutairi stated that numerous positive topics were addressed, focusing on the development of the sport at both the continental and local levels. Particular attention was given to the Kuwaiti American Football Committee’s preparations for upcoming events, especially those related to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifiers. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation and responsiveness of international and regional leaders, emphasizing their shared commitment to promoting the game’s growth.
He also praised the notable progress the sport has achieved globally, along with the advancements in various derivative formats. Al-Mutairi highlighted a significant milestone where the Malaysian Federation enlisted Kuwaiti international referees Omar Al-Qattan and Abdullah Al-Qattan to officiate matches in the Malaysian Open Championship, wishing them success in their role.
