KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The Kuwait youth volleyball team is set to depart tomorrow morning for Al Ain, UAE, where it will compete in the second West Asian Youth Championship from August 16th to 25th.

The team is under the guidance of national coach Jassim Al-Tararwah and his Egyptian assistant Osama Madkour. Comprising 12 players, the team adheres to the regulations set by the West Asian Volleyball Federation. Recently, the youth team participated in the Asian Under-20 Championship, where it secured the 15th position.

In the West Asia Championship draw, Kuwait is placed in Group A, Qatar, Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain. Group B includes UAE, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. Kuwait's youth volleyball team will face Qatar in its opening match of the preliminary round on Saturday, followed by matches against Yemen, Syria, and Bahrain.

Coach Jassim Al-Tararwah highlighted that the team's recent training sessions have intensified, with morning and evening practices aimed at improving the team's overall performance. The focus has been on refining technical skills and correcting mistakes observed during the Asian Championship, ensuring the players reach the necessary technical and physical standards before the official matches in the West Asian Championship. He also noted that the competition in the West Asian Championship will be fierce, given the high level of preparation among the participating teams. However, Al-Tararwah expressed confidence in his team's talented and capable players, who are determined to compete strongly for top positions in the tournament.
