DOHA, Nov 30: Kuwait will complete its final training session this evening at Al-Uqla Stadium in Doha, as it prepares to face Egypt tomorrow in the opening round of Group C in the Arab Cup. The group also features the UAE and Jordan.
All players have been present since camp opened last Friday, with the coaching staff assigning lighter, specialized work to the players who delivered heavy minutes against Mauritania in Tuesday’s playoff.
Head coach Helio Sousa held multiple meetings with the squad, emphasising the need to limit mistakes, raise concentration levels, and maintain strong organisation on the pitch — noting that Egypt presents a different challenge compared to Mauritania.
The Egyptian national team started training in Doha on Friday under head coach Helmy Tolan. Egyptian FA president Hany Abu Rida met with the coaching staff and players to motivate them ahead of the tournament, expressing his confidence in their ability to achieve strong results and represent Egyptian football well.
Meanwhile, Marwan Hamdi, Karim El-Iraqi, and Mido Gaber joined the squad in Doha yesterday.
The Local Organizing Committee of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 held a press conference the day before yesterday to provide updates on final preparations.
Jassim Al-Jassim, chairman of the committee, affirmed Qatar’s full readiness to host the event and highlighted the strong demand for tickets, exceeding 700,000 sold. He added that Qatar, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia are among the top ticket-buying nations and announced that the Doha Metro will be free for all ticket holders during the tournament.
Al-Jassim also outlined details of today’s opening ceremony, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Al Bayt Stadium. The ceremony will be followed by the opening match between Qatar and Palestine at 6:45 p.m., while Tunisia will meet Syria earlier at 4:00 p.m. at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in the first round of Group A fixtures.
