DOHA, Sept. 14: Kuwait completed its Doha training camp with a 2-1 win over Qatar’s Lusail Club in a friendly at Aspire Academy.

The match was played over two 35-minute halves, with the players coping with high humidity as Coach Hélio Sousa rotated his squad and gave everyone playing time.

Kuwait enjoyed the better of the opening half, controlling possession and working on passing and tactical combinations. The team increased the tempo after the break and scored twice.

Yousef Majed produced a fine finish to open the scoring, lifting the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. Khaled Al-Morshed then made it 2-0 after capitalizing on a scramble in front of goal, while Lusail scored a late consolation.

The result marked Kuwait’s only friendly during its Doha camp. The team will hold its final training session in the Qatari capital today before travelling to Jeddah tomorrow for the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup.

Kuwait will play Yemen on Friday in its final warm-up before the tournament. The team has been drawn in Group A with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman.

Kuwait begins its campaign against Saudi Arabia on Sept. 23, faces Iraq three days later, and concludes the group stage against Oman on Sept. 29.

Group B consists of Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar, and Yemen.
