Kuwait Withdraws Citizenship from 316 Individuals, Including Dependents

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The official gazette, Kuwait Al-Youm , has published five decrees and two Cabinet decisions revoking Kuwaiti citizenship from a total of 316 individuals.

According to the gazette, Decree No. 72 of 2026 revoked Kuwaiti citizenship from 288 people , including those who had obtained citizenship through dependency.

Decree No. 73 of 2026 ordered the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship certificates from five individuals , along with the revocation of citizenship from those who had acquired it through dependency from the holders of those certificates. The decree was issued under Article 21 bis (A) of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 concerning the Kuwaiti Nationality Law and its amendments.

Meanwhile, Decree No. 74 of 2026 revoked Kuwaiti citizenship from two individuals and from those who had acquired it through dependency. Decree No. 75 of 2026 revoked citizenship from one person and from those who had obtained it through dependency.

Decree No. 78 of 2026 withdrew Kuwaiti citizenship certificates from three individuals and revoked citizenship from those who had acquired it through dependency from the certificate holders, in accordance with Article 21 bis (1) of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959 on the Kuwaiti Nationality Law and its amendments.

The gazette also published Cabinet Resolution No. 84 of 2026 , which withdrew citizenship certificates from 11 people and revoked citizenship from those who had acquired it through dependency from the certificate holders, based on Article 21 bis (A) of the nationality law.

In addition, Cabinet Resolution No. 125 of 2026 ordered the withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship certificates from six people , along with the revocation of citizenship from those who had acquired it through dependency.
