Bangkok, Dec 6 (KUNA): Kuwait’s equestrian team claimed second place and the silver medal on Friday at the Asian Show Jumping Championship, which began two days ago in Thailand and will continue until next Sunday.

The Kuwaiti squad featured riders Ali Al-Kharafi, Rayara Al-Hunadi, Fawaz Al-Rashed, and Annaz Al-Annaz. Japan captured the gold medal, while Chinese Taipei took home the bronze.

Sufyan Buqammaz, administrative manager of Kuwait’s equestrian delegation, described the achievement as historic, highlighting the intense competition and the dedicated efforts of the riders during their preparation, including training camps and ensuring the horses were in peak condition.

He praised the Kuwait Equestrian Federation for providing an ideal environment and a comprehensive strategy to raise Kuwait’s profile in the sport. “This silver medal marks a significant milestone for Kuwait’s developing show-jumping program,” he said.

Buqammaz also extended gratitude to the country’s political leadership for supporting athletes, and to the Public Authority for Sport for its ongoing support of the team.

Looking ahead, the riders are fully focused on the upcoming Asian Masters in Tokyo 2026, aiming to further elevate Kuwait’s presence in continental equestrian sports.
