MANAMA, Aug 16: Kuwait secured the bronze medal at the second Arab U-17 Volleyball Championship in Bahrain, beating Algeria 3-0 in their final match.
The result capped a strong tournament for the young Blue Volleyball squad, which produced encouraging performances throughout the competition and demonstrated the growing strength of Kuwait’s youth volleyball program.
Kuwait Volleyball Federation board member and head of delegation Naif Al-Failakawi described the bronze medal as an important achievement, particularly given the progress being made by Kuwait’s national teams.
He said the team benefited from a comprehensive preparation program that included domestic training in Kuwait and an overseas camp in Cairo, where the players played several friendly matches to improve their match fitness and gain valuable experience.
Al-Failakawi congratulated the federation’s board, coaching and administrative staff, players and Kuwaiti supporters, expressing hope that the team would continue to develop and achieve better results in future competitions.
Team manager Abdullah Al-Rais said the bronze medal represents the first reward for the team’s preparations and expressed confidence that the squad can become an important source of talent for Kuwait’s senior national team.
“The third-place finish is the beginning of the achievements we expect this team to accomplish in the near future,” Al-Rais said.
