KUWAIT CITY, Feb 14: On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the Embassy of Japan in the State of Kuwait held the Wagyu (Japanese Beef) Promotion Seminar at Sakura Japanese Restaurant in Crowne Plaza Hotel. In his opening remarks, Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr. Mukai Kenichiro said that he is delighted to announce that after extensive and successful negotiations between the Japanese and Kuwaiti authorities, both sides have reached an agreement permitting the import of Halal Wagyu from Japan to Kuwait.
After much anticipation, this milestone paves the way for food suppliers in Kuwait to finally bring this exquisite delicacy to the local market. The seminar was attended by leading restaurant and hotel operators, food importers and culinary chefs. The program featured a live demonstration on the proper handling, cooking, and serving of A5 Wagyu – the highest grade of Japanese beef. In addition, representatives from Wagyu exporting companies in Japan shared distinctive characteristics of premium wagyu beef brands, Omi Beef and Kurohana Beef. The event concluded with a tasting session, where attendees enjoyed a variety of Wagyu dishes, including Roast Beef, Wagyu Sando (beef cutlet sandwich), and Wagyu Steak

Wagyu is renowned as the pinnacle of artisan beef, produced in limited quantities under strict Japanese standards. Finally, those visits were culminated in the meeting held between the Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba and His Highness Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al- Sabah, in New York in September 2025, where both sides welcomed the agreement that facilitates the importation of Wagyu from Japan to Kuwait.

H.E. Ambassador Mukai noted that throughout his tenure in Kuwait, and in all his interactions here, he has come to admire the discerning nature of the people when it comes to food. Kuwaitis truly embody the spirit of gourmets, constantly in pursuit of the finest flavors, and their endorsement of a dish serves as a clear testament to its exceptional quality and taste. The Ambassador expressed his delight at this milestone, emphasizing that it will undoubtedly elevate trade relations to an entirely new level. He further conveyed his hope that the introduction of fine Wagyu would mark only the beginning, as he looks forward to fostering even deeper and broader cooperation, alongside enriched cultural exchange between the two friendly nations.
