KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: Kuwait has welcomed a statement issued by United Nations Security Council members on August 7 condemning missile attacks by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia and attacks on commercial vessels.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Kuwait appreciated the Security Council’s call for compliance with international law and relevant council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, as well as respect for Yemen’s sovereignty, independence and territorial unity.

Kuwait also rejected actions threatening regional security and freedom of maritime navigation, reaffirming its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken to protect its sovereignty and security.

The ministry further renewed Kuwait’s support for Yemen’s legitimate government and the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen to achieve peace, security and stability in the country.
