KUWAIT CITY, March 8: The Ministry of Interior has affirmed its commitment to maintaining security and public safety across the country, warning that it will take firm action against anyone promoting misleading information or spreading panic among the public.
Colonel Faisal S Obaidullah, Director of the Public Relations and Security Media Department, said in an interview with Kuwait TV that the Ministry has intensified the deployment of patrols within residential areas and on major roads. He added that coordination among various security agencies continues through joint operations rooms to ensure rapid response to any emergency, urging citizens and residents to report any incidents through the emergency number (112).
Colonel Obaidullah stressed that the Ministry “will not tolerate those who promote false information,” describing members of Kuwait’s military and security agencies as “a united wall protecting the homeland.” He emphasized that safeguarding the nation’s security is a patriotic duty shared by all personnel across the Ministry of Interior, Armed Forces, and other relevant authorities.
Referring to the recent loss of two security officers, Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al-Sharrah and Major Fahd Abdulaziz Al-Mujammad, Colonel Obaidullah said the entire nation mourns their martyrdom. He noted that the two officers were killed while carrying out their duties on Kuwait’s northern borders after being struck by missile shrapnel, adding that their sacrifice represents “the highest meaning of loyalty and devotion to the homeland.”
The Interior Ministry, he explained, activated its media and security plans from the first moments of recent events to curb rumors and misinformation. The General Department of Security Relations and Media issued multiple awareness statements warning against circulating unverified news or videos that could cause fear or confusion among the public.
Colonel Obaidullah also noted that the General Directorate for Combating Cybercrimes is actively monitoring digital platforms to track and address false online content. He revealed that several individuals had already been apprehended for spreading inaccurate reports or videos — including one case involving footage of a minor traffic accident on King Fahd Road, which was falsely circulated as being caused by missile debris.
He reaffirmed that the Ministry will continue to act decisively against those spreading rumors, reiterating that all security forces remain prepared to ensure the safety and stability of the nation.
