KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has warned against counterfeit Botox cosmetic products, urging authorities to monitor and prevent the circulation of potentially illegal or untested products that could pose risks to consumers.
The Ministry’s Environmental Crimes Department is monitoring the suspected counterfeit products and is taking immediate measures to prevent their circulation and protect consumers. It has also called on relevant national authorities to monitor and track the products and report any seizures or discoveries in Kuwait.
The warning follows an alert from the INTERPOL General Secretariat issued under Operation Pangea, an international initiative involving police, customs and health authorities in dozens of countries to combat the illegal online sale of medicines and medical products.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the alert concerns counterfeit versions of a 100-unit Botox health product belonging to a specific company. The Ministry said its relevant team received an urgent notification from the task force responsible for combating health and pharmaceutical crimes.
The Ministry subsequently referred the alert to the General Administration of Customs, urging the necessary measures to be taken to prevent the counterfeit product from entering or circulating in Kuwait.
Following the notification, Customs Director General Yousef Al-Nuwaif issued Circular No. 28 of 2026 concerning the counterfeit Botox product. The circular instructed department directors to notify their relevant personnel and take the necessary measures in accordance with the alert.
Authorities emphasized the need for continued monitoring and coordination among the concerned agencies to identify and prevent the circulation of counterfeit medical and cosmetic products and protect consumers from products that have not been legally approved or properly tested.
