KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 23: Kuwait’s men’s volleyball team will face Arab Contractors today in its second friendly during a training camp in Cairo as part of its preparations for the Arab National Teams Championship in Amman, Jordan, from October 5 to 15.
Kuwait opened its friendly schedule two days ago against the Egyptian Army, with the match ending 2-2 after the teams shared the four sets. The game allowed coach Julian Alvarez and his staff to assess the players’ physical and technical readiness.
Alvarez, assisted by Zaid Al-Kadhmi, is using the Cairo camp to improve the team’s fitness, work on tactical and technical aspects, and build understanding between experienced players and younger members of the squad.
Team manager Abdullah Al-Najdi said the camp is progressing according to plan, praising the players for their commitment to the intensive training program and their cooperation with the coaching and administrative staff.
He said the Kuwait Volleyball Association and delegation management, headed by Dr Jaber Al-Marri, are providing the necessary support to ensure the camp achieves its objectives.
Al-Najdi also stressed the importance of facing Egyptian clubs, describing the matches as valuable preparation against strong opposition.
He added that Kuwait hopes to compete strongly at the Arab Championship, building on the progress shown during its recent West Asia Championship campaign, as the team continues its efforts to restore Kuwait volleyball to the regional stage.
