KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The Kuwait Volleyball Association has honored the national U-17 team following its impressive third-place finish at the Arab U-17 Volleyball Championship in Bahrain.
The Association held a ceremony at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Hall to celebrate the team’s bronze-medal achievement. Association President Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, Vice President Nasser Al-Anzi, Secretary-General Talal Al-Namash, Treasurer Talal Al-Adwani, and board members Nayef Al-Filkawi and Ziad Al-Anzi attended the ceremony.
The association’s board congratulated the players and technical and administrative staff, praising their efforts throughout the tournament and their performances, which reflected the progress of Kuwaiti volleyball at the youth level.
The recognition also highlighted the Association’s commitment to developing its national teams and motivating young players to continue improving. The U-17 squad is viewed as an important part of the foundation for Kuwait’s future national teams and their ambitions to compete at the Gulf, Arab, and Asian levels.
Al-Marri said the ceremony was held to recognize the efforts of the players and coaching staff while reaffirming the federation’s commitment to developing volleyball and strengthening Kuwait’s presence in regional and international competitions.
He revealed that the team spent a month at a training camp in Cairo under Tunisian coach Mohamed Al-Sheikh before heading to Bahrain for the championship.
Kuwait secured the bronze medal after defeating Algeria 3-0 in the third-place match.
Al-Marri praised the players for their performance, particularly given that the tournament marked their first international experience outside Kuwait. He noted that the team had entered the competition after a period without domestic matches due to the suspension of local competitions.
Despite the lack of competitive action, Al-Marri said the players responded strongly and produced a notable performance to secure a place on the podium.
