KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: The Kuwait Volleyball Association has announced the formation of its Training and National Teams Committee for the 2026-2027 season as part of its preparations for the upcoming campaign and efforts to enhance the technical and administrative structure of the national teams.

The committee will be headed by board member Nayef Al-Fikawee, with Khaled Al-Mutairi appointed as vice-chairman and Fatima Al-Awadhi serving as secretary. The committee also includes members Nayef Al-Farhan and Faisal Al-Ajmi.

The newly formed committee will be responsible for overseeing the national teams’ technical programs, organizing preparation plans and training camps, evaluating coaching staff, and developing player-improvement strategies to raise the standard of Kuwaiti volleyball.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s junior national volleyball team secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Qatar in a friendly match held in Cairo as part of their preparations for the second Arab Junior Volleyball Championship in Manama, Bahrain, from August 7-17.

The tournament will feature six teams — Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria and Jordan — with all teams competing in a single round-robin format. The top four sides will qualify for the semifinals.

The team began its preparations in July with local training sessions before heading to Cairo for an overseas camp. Their strong display against Qatar provided the coaching staff with further confidence.
