KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Kuwait’s Public Authority for Industry has issued an important directive requiring industrial establishments to suspend operations during peak electricity hours, as part of national efforts to reduce power consumption and maintain grid stability amid rising temperatures.
The authority said factories must halt work between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, in line with guidelines set by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, starting from September 15, 2026, until May 15, 2026. Businesses are permitted to operate during evening hours instead, particularly those running single or double shifts.
The move comes as part of Kuwait’s broader sustainability strategy and efforts to manage increased electricity demand during hotter months. The authority warned that legal action will be taken against violators, stressing the collective responsibility to support the country’s power infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted services
