KUWAIT CITY, Jan 19: Colonel Turki Al-Hajri, Director of Operations at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, confirmed that the activation of sirens on Monday was part of a trial to ensure the readiness and safety of the early warning system, based on directives from the Minister of Interior and the ministry’s Undersecretary. Speaking on the “Good Morning Kuwait” program, Colonel Al-Hajri explained that the early warning system uses three main tones:
- A flashing tone signals an imminent threat
- A wavy tone indicates the threat has occurred
- A continuous tone shows the threat has passed
He emphasized that the activation was purely for testing purposes and should not have caused any alarm. Colonel Al-Hajri urged the public to ignore rumors and rely only on information from official media sources. He affirmed the siren system is regularly maintained and is distributed in all governorates of Kuwait.
