KUWAIT CITY, Feb 5: The Ministry of Health has announced that Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, has approved updated executive regulations for Law No. 31 of 2008, which pertains to medical examinations for individuals seeking marriage. These updated regulations are set to be implemented starting April 1, following their publication in the Official Gazette. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of health services, protect public health and reduce the prevalence of genetic and infectious diseases within the community. Key amendments in the updated regulations include the following: Expanded Scope of Medical Examinations -- The medical examinations will now encompass all marriage contracts in Kuwait, regardless of the parties’ nationalities. This includes marriages between two Kuwaitis a Kuwaiti and a non-Kuwaiti, or two non-Kuwaitis. Integration of Digital Applications -- To streamline the process, digital applications will be utilized to facilitate certain procedures related to premarital medical examinations. These changes reflect Kuwait’s commitment to improving public health and ensuring the well-being of its citizens through proactive medical assessments for those entering marriage.
