KUWAIT CITY, Sept 16: The Sports Activities Department in the Deanship of Student Affairs at Kuwait University sent a student delegation to the Asian University Table Tennis Championship, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, the university disclosed that the championship was hosted by the Malaysian city of Kuantan from Sept. 3- 11, with the participation of various universities and sports educational institutions throughout Asia.

The university stated that its participation is in line with its commitment to support sports and intensify the presence of its students in regional and international arenas.

This initiative aims to nurture the students’ talents, hone their skills, and instill values, such as competitiveness, commitment, and teamwork.

Head of the delegation and acting Dean of Student Affairs at the university, Dr. Salem Al-Shammari, pointed out that this participation is a reflection of the university's strategy of the university to support athletically gifted students and provide them with an environment conducive to the development of their capabilities.

He affirmed the importance of international participation in gaining experience, boosting self-confidence, and representing both the university and the State of Kuwait with distinction in international sports events.

He said the university prioritizes expanding student participation in local, regional, and international championships in order to solidify the prominent international standing of the university and reinforce its role in cultivating the talents of students and developing their capabilities in different fields.  He added that male and female student teams represented the university in the championship.

Meanwhile, the Sports Activities Department continues to implement programs aimed at advancing university sports, discovering talent, and preparing students to compete in various athletic events.
