KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: Kuwait’s U-20 national team suffered a 1-0 defeat to Jordan in a friendly at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium as both sides continue their preparations for the AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Kuwait will compete in a qualifying group hosted by Cambodia, beginning its campaign against Japan on Aug. 31. The Blues will then face Yemen on Sept. 3 before completing its group-stage schedule against hosts Cambodia on Sept. 6.
Kuwait will have another opportunity to test itself against Jordan tomorrow when the teams meet in a second friendly.
Kuwait began preparations for the qualifiers in July with a training camp in the Netherlands, where the squad played three friendly matches as part of its buildup.
The team will travel to Bangkok next week for a two-week camp, during which it will play two more friendlies. Kuwait will face the United Arab Emirates on Aug. 19 before taking on Iraq on Aug. 24.
Following the Bangkok camp, the Kuwait delegation will travel to Cambodia to begin its qualifying campaign, with the team aiming to reach the AFC U-20 Asian Cup finals.
