AMMAN, Aug 25: Kuwait’s U-17 national handball team will wrap up its preliminary-round campaign at the 11th Asian Youth Handball Championship in Jordan today, Tuesday, when it faces Saudi Arabia at 2 p.m. in its final Group 2 fixture.
The Blues will aim to end the group stage on a positive note after opening the tournament with a victory over Syria before losing to Qatar and Iran in their next two matches.
Syria will face Iran in another Group 2 encounter, while South Korea meets Bahrain and Uzbekistan takes on hosts Jordan in other matches on the final day of the preliminary round.
The Saudi Arabia clash will allow Kuwait’s technical and administrative staff to address the weaknesses exposed in the team’s previous two games and make the necessary adjustments ahead of the next phase of the competition.
Kuwait entered the championship following an intensive preparation program that included a European training camp in Slovenia and Croatia, where the team played several friendly matches.
The squad subsequently returned home for a training camp that featured two warm-up matches against Bahrain, which was also preparing for the Asian championship.
