Kuwait TV restores its glory with 30 new shows and revamped classics
Kuwait TV's revitalization shines bright with a new programming cycle on the “51” platform.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: Kuwait TV has proven its worthiness with a slogan that has restored its former glory since the launch of its new programming cycle on the “51” platform on July 28. This new cycle has captivated viewers during the summer with nearly 30 diverse programs, ranging from talk shows and social content to entertainment and competitions. Additionally, core programs have been revamped, including the “Kuwait Nights” show.

Observers have praised the tireless efforts and wise guidance of the Minister of Information and Culture, Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi, along with the contributions of the Undersecretary of Information, Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, and the Assistant Undersecretary for the Television Sector, Turki Al-Ardi Al-Mutairi, in enhancing this significant media institution. Their efforts have allowed Kuwait TV to shine brightly in the Gulf and Arab media landscape.

Al-Rai gathered opinions from several followers and creators of artistic and media content, who lauded the “Media Strategy (2021-2026),” describing it as clear and rich. They expressed their hopes for Kuwait’s continued growth and prosperity across all its institutions.

Mama Anisa: Kuwait TV... "The master of screens"

“There is no fear for Kuwait TV as long as it is under the leadership of Minister of Information Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Undersecretary Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, and Assistant Undersecretary Turki Al-Ardi,” stated renowned media personality Mama Anisa in response to Al Rai’s question regarding the significant development Kuwait TV has shown in its new programming cycle. She emphasized that Kuwait TV has regained its rightful place as “the master of screens.”

Mama Anisa praised all the programs, particularly the news section, which she said has provided essential information and coverage of key local and international events, making other Arab and international news channels unnecessary. She acknowledged the remarkable progress achieved by Kuwait TV and expressed her gratitude to its creators, hoping for continued efforts to preserve this pioneering media institution in the region.

Abdul Aziz Al-Muslim: Remarkable progress and good efforts

Artist Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Muslim noted the noticeable progress and commendable efforts on Kuwait State TV. “I congratulated my brother, the Minister of Information, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, during our meeting at the ministry, and praised the development that has occurred under his leadership. That meeting was also attended by Undersecretary Dr. Nasser Muhaisen. I later visited Assistant Undersecretary for the Television Sector, Turki Al-Ardi, to congratulate and thank him for the exceptional programming cycle, as Kuwait TV was once known for creating local and regional stars. With the rise of social media, every influencer now has their platform and audience,” he added.

He continued, “In this cycle, the TV department has successfully gathered numerous celebrities for Kuwait TV programs, which is a positive step. We hope for continued success in attracting the audience as much as influencers do on social media. We also hope Kuwait TV will reclaim its leadership and succeed in appealing to the majority of Kuwaiti and Gulf viewers across all segments.”

Ahmed Al-Awnan: We hope for educational and instructional content

Artist Ahmed Al-Aounan highlighted the evident change and development in Kuwait TV under the guidance of Minister Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi and the relentless efforts of Assistant Undersecretary Turki Al-Ardi. “Their focus on art, artists, and carefully curated programs is evident to all, and the signs of success have been clear for the past three seasons. This has been reflected on the Kuwait TV screen, where we no longer see repetition or stereotypes in the selected programs. This demonstrates real change, actual development, and well-deserved success,” he said.

He added, “God willing, television will return to producing series as it did in the past. We, as artists, are honored to participate in any work for Kuwait TV, whether it’s a series or a program, and we will respond immediately. Kuwait TV has done us a great favor, after God Almighty, and I hope it continues to thrive.”

While the two assistants praised the quality of the selected programs for this cycle, they also expressed hopes for the inclusion of educational programs and series like “Open Sesame” and others.

Manaf Abdul: Turki Al-Ardi works 7 days a week

Director Manaf Abdul confirmed that since Minister Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi took over the “Media,” there has been a shift, and Kuwait TV has regained its brilliance. He pointed out that the latest programming cycle, featuring advanced works with modern techniques, has met the viewer’s needs with varied programs offering diverse content.

Abdul expressed pride in being part of the “great institution” represented by the Ministry of Information, praising the efforts of Assistant Undersecretary Turki Al-Ardi. He noted that Al-Ardi’s office door is open 24 hours a day, and he works 7 days a week, not the typical 5 days.

“My admiration for (Abu Abdullah) is genuine, as he is the right man for the job. He loves innovation and development, and he works diligently to enhance television content, as we see on the Kuwait TV screen. His serious efforts to advance pioneering Kuwaiti drama are evident, and there is no doubt that Kuwait is rich with creative talents,” Abdul said.

He highlighted some of his favorite programs from the new programming cycle, including “Kahwet Biyomi” and “Min Qalb Ma’ Bashar Al Shatti,” expressing his fondness for these unique and lighthearted programs.

Badr Muharab: Anticipation for something different

Writer Bader Muharab expressed optimism about the signs of success for Kuwait TV amidst the variety of programs offered in the new programming cycle. He said, “I believe Kuwait TV will achieve something different from what it presented in previous years, especially with the leadership of Minister Al-Mutairi and Assistant Undersecretary Turki Al-Ardi.”

Muharab noted that it’s still too early to fully gauge the success of these new programs, even though some have already been well-received. “However, we must remember that viewers are accustomed to a certain format, and it may take time for them to recognize and appreciate the developments,” he added.

He also pointed out the fierce competition between Kuwait TV and other Gulf, Arab, and regional TV stations, emphasizing the need for Kuwait TV to market its works and programs effectively to solidify its position in its new form. Muharab recalled that Kuwait TV’s past leadership was due to the technical tools it had, which were lacking in the Gulf channels during their early days, granting it leadership at that time.

Bassem Abdel Amir: Excellence didn’t come from nowhere

Producer and artist Basem Abdul Amir mentioned that since the announcement of Kuwait TV’s new programming cycle, he has been keen to review it. “Without flattery, I genuinely liked it for several reasons. Firstly, it is comprehensive and caters to all tastes, as the selected programs include social and dialogue shows, as well as cultural and comedic content. Those in charge of Kuwait TV have ensured that viewers have plenty of options, preventing any sense of boredom,” he said.

He added, “It’s also noteworthy that the new season hasn’t forgotten drama lovers, as it offers a selection of excellent series.”

“This programming cycle didn’t emerge from nowhere. I’m certain that a professional team worked tirelessly to produce the final result we’re seeing. The efforts of the Minister of Information and Culture, Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi, are clear, as are those of Undersecretary Dr. Nasser Muhaisen and Assistant Undersecretary for the Television Sector, Turki Al-Ardi (may God bless them). I must also acknowledge all the program workers, including broadcasters, producers, directors, technicians, and everyone behind the scenes, for presenting something beautiful and distinctive to Kuwait State Television, which has long been a pioneer in these programs and works,” Abdul Amir continued.

Nabil Al-Fulaijawi: The current session... A blend of heritage with modern techniques

The head of the Kuwaiti Artists and Media Professionals Syndicate, Dr. Nabil Al-Fulaijawi, expressed confidence in the success of Kuwait TV’s current programming cycle and upcoming ones. “These cycles are diverse and comprehensive, chosen by individuals with great experience and professionalism, driven by their love for Kuwait to give more,” he stated.

Al-Fulaijawi emphasized that the new cycle focused on appealing to a wide range of tastes, both young and old, through an abundance of diverse programs, including talk shows, variety shows, competitions, and entertainment. The programs also feature modern techniques that evoke ancient heritage, presenting them in a different and unconventional manner.

"Attracting the Kuwaiti audience"

Al-Muslim highlighted that the Minister of Information is keen on attracting the Kuwaiti audience. “I believe he is following strategies aimed at improving content and enhancing the television experience. This includes developing diverse and high-quality content, including drama, purposeful comedy, talk shows, and news, as well as programs targeting youth and children, with a focus on engaging local content that respects Kuwaiti and Gulf values and culture.”

He hinted that the upcoming focus will be on supporting and encouraging local production by presenting programs and series that address social and cultural issues relevant to the Kuwaiti and Gulf audience. “This could include producing drama series that reflect daily life in Kuwait, as well as talk shows that discuss current issues,” he concluded.
