Kuwait Tri-IT Kids Series ‘concludes’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 25: The Kuwait Tri-IT Kids Series concluded on Friday, October 22 in the halls of the Kuwait Olympic Committee. The series, which included running, cycling and swimming, was organized by the Kuwait Triathlon Federation. The closing ceremony of the series was attended by the Deputy Director of the Public Authority for Sports for Competitive Sports Affairs Dr. Saqer Al-Mulla, a member of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Fatima Hayat, and the Chairman of the Triathlon Union Club Rashid Al-Kandari as well as members of the Board of Directors. The event witnessed the participation of 300 contestants, of which 70 were awarded triple medals for winning all three races.

Dr. Saqer Al-Mulla expressed his appreciation for the event, in which hundreds of young athletes participated. He highlighted that they presented a distinguished and advanced level, which confirms the federation’s progress on the right path in creating a sports generation capable of representing Kuwaiti sports in the international field in a manner that befits it. Dr. Al-Mulla said, “The organization was wonderful and the presence of parents cheering for their children added to the excitement of the activities.” He affirmed that the Public Authority for Sports will continue to support sports bodies including federations and clubs to develop the level of their players and in a manner befitting the image of Kuwaiti sports when participating in international events, adding that this is something that would raise the classification of Kuwait in those championships. In addition, Chairperson of the Kuwait Triathlon Federation Rashid Al- Kandari thanked the Public Authority for Sports for its support, as well as the Kuwait Olympic Committee for its halls and stadiums to hold the series. He affirmed the importance of this event for the youth, especially since sports activities were suspended for almost two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Al-Kandari said, “The series was very successful, as per everyone’s testimony. We have future plans for the players, especially young ones.” He indicated that they are working on implementing the directives of sports leaders to create Olympic stars to participate in the masters and the Olympics in the future. Al-Kandari revealed that the triathlon team left for Abu Dhabi to set up a camp there before participating in the Abu Dhabi International Championship, adding that there will be another camp in November in Doha before participating in the Asian Championship in Qatar.
