Kuwait Traffic Crackdown Nets Wanted Criminals, Stolen Vehicles and Residency Violators

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: The Traffic and Operations Sector, led by Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Atiqi and Brigadier General Saad Al-Qatwan, continued intensive security and traffic campaigns across all governorates to enhance road safety and maintain order.

According to official statistics, more than 31,153 traffic violations were issued during the campaigns, while 65 juveniles were arrested for driving without a license and referred to the Juvenile Prosecution. Authorities also recorded 1,088 traffic accidents during the week, including 159 that resulted in injuries or fatalities, and 929 that caused material damage only.

The Capital Traffic Department registered the highest number of violations with 6,916 cases, followed by Farwaniya with 6,288, Ahmadi with 5,793, and Jahra with 4,393. Other departments accounted for the remaining violations.

Nineteen serious violators were referred to the traffic police, six vehicles were impounded, and 51 wanted individuals were arrested. Among them were three expatriates with absconding cases and 48 linked to civil or criminal offenses. In addition, 103 expatriates violating residency laws were detained, including 77 caught by highway patrols. Police also recovered 69 vehicles wanted for theft or breach of trust.

A security source confirmed that the campaigns will continue, stressing that law enforcement aims to protect lives and enhance traffic safety on Kuwait’s roads.
