Kuwait traffic campaign impounds 49 vehicles, records 64 violations

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: Kuwait’s Traffic Investigation Department has launched a large-scale security and traffic campaign across several highways and inland areas, resulting in the impoundment of more than 49 vehicles and the issuance of 64 traffic violations under Article 207.

The campaign was conducted under the directives of Brigadier General Ahmed Fahd Al-Azmi, head of the Traffic and Operations Sector, and the supervision of Brigadier General Rashid Hamoud Al-Hajri, director general of the General Traffic Department.

Authorities said legal action was taken against violators, with one person placed in pretrial detention and a minor referred to the Juvenile Prosecution.

A security source said several violations were detected using mobile surveillance cameras and cameras installed on highway overpasses. Traffic investigation officers were deployed at multiple locations, with intensified monitoring, surveillance and vehicle inspections targeting dangerous violations that could threaten drivers and other road users.

The source stressed that the campaigns are not focused solely on issuing fines but are intended primarily to prevent dangerous driving behavior before it results in accidents. The General Directorate of Traffic will continue increasing its field presence, monitoring roads and taking legal measures, including vehicle impoundment when necessary, to strengthen traffic discipline and protect public safety.
