KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: Kuwait’s Traffic Department recorded 28,890 traffic violations and arrested 243 individuals in various categories during intensified field and security operations across the country last week.
The Traffic Department said its campaigns, conducted from September 14 to 20, also resulted in the handling of 3,030 traffic reports.
Authorities arrested 29 people wanted by the competent authorities, 35 people with expired residency permits and five individuals who were unable to provide official identification. Another five people were arrested while in an abnormal condition, while eight juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution.
Police also seized 28 wanted vehicles and impounded 241 vehicles and two motorcycles involved in violations.
Traffic patrols dealt with 1,315 traffic collisions, including 182 accidents that resulted in injuries, while teams continued rapid response operations to accidents and emergency reports to help secure roads and maintain public safety.
In separate operations, patrols referred 15 suspects to the General Directorate for Drug Control, impounded five vehicles and handled 107 traffic accidents, in addition to registering 415 case reports.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Emergency Police carried out intensive security and traffic campaigns across Kuwait from September 13 to 19.
The campaigns resulted in 1,936 security operations, the detection of 1,349 traffic violations, and the arrest of 102 people wanted by the authorities, 90 people with expired residency permits and 36 people without official identification.
Emergency police patrols also provided assistance in 878 humanitarian cases, as part of their efforts to respond rapidly to emergency reports and provide support to road users.
