Kuwait Traffic Authorities Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Driving and Violations

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 10: The General Traffic Department (GTD) at the Interior Ministry continued its traffic campaigns in all governorates. These campaigns resulted in the issuance of 27,593 citations for various violations and the referral of 28 juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without a license. Weekly statistics from the traffic patrols revealed the impoundment of 16 vehicles and motorcycles, referral of 27 people to traffic police stations, confiscation of of 65 vehicles wanted by the judiciary, arrest of 56 persons wanted by law for involvement in different crimes, arrest of 115 people who hold expired residency permits, and referral of one person to the Drug Control General Department. The statistics indicated that the total number of traffic accidents reached 1,224, which caused injuries to 178 individuals.

Traffic statistics have revealed an increase in the number of minors driving vehicles without a license, with 244 minors apprehended during the period between June 28 and July 28, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The Traffic Affairs and Operations Sector, represented by the General Traffic Department and the General Department of Rescue Police, stated that this phenomenon highlights the vital role of families and society in supervising children and preventing them from driving without a license, due to the legal consequences and serious risks to traffic safety. The General Traffic Department urged parents to closely monitor their children and instill the importance of following traffic laws and regulations, for their safety and the safety of others on the road, and to preserve their future from legal consequences and potential harm.
