KUWAIT CITY, Sept 2: A rare total lunar eclipse will be visible across Kuwait on Sunday, Sept 7, marking the second such phenomenon this year, the head of Al-Ajari Scientific Center said on Tuesday.
Yousef Al-Ajari, the center’s director, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the moon will pass completely into Earth’s shadow, giving it a copper-red glow commonly known as a “blood moon.”
The eclipse will be visible across Kuwait from start to finish, especially along the eastern coasts and open areas, Al-Ajari said. He noted that the event can be observed safely with the naked eye or through telescopes and binoculars.
The Al-Ajari Center will take part in a special public viewing organized by Kuwait University’s Physics Department, under the umbrella of the Kuwait National Center for Space Research, and in collaboration with other institutions. The gathering, which will include representatives of diplomatic missions, students, and astronomy enthusiasts, will run from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. local time on Sunday.
Al-Ajari added that the center aims to engage children and space science enthusiasts through a dedicated website featuring live monitoring and expert discussions of the phenomenon.
