Kuwait to swelter under 47°C heat

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The Meteorological Department said the country’s weather over the weekend will generally be hot to very hot during the day and relatively humid in coastal areas, while nights will be hot to moderate and relatively humid along the coast as Kuwait comes under the influence of hot, humid winds. The department’s deputy director, Dhirar Al-Ali, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country is being affected by an extension of the Indian monsoon depression, accompanied by a hot and relatively humid air mass, with winds northwesterly to fluctuating at light to moderate speeds. Al-Ali said tonight’s weather will be hot to moderate and relatively humid in coastal areas, with winds fluctuating to northwesterly at light to moderate speeds of 8 to 28 kilometers per hour, some high clouds expected, minimum temperatures between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius, and sea conditions light to moderate with waves of 1 to 3 feet.

He said Friday’s daytime weather will be very hot, with northwesterly winds light to moderate in speed, at times active, ranging between 8 and 40 kilometers per hour, some high clouds expected, maximum temperatures between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius, and the sea light to moderate with waves of 1 to 5 feet. Al-Ali added that Friday night will be hot to moderate, with northwesterly winds light to moderate in speed ranging between 12 and 35 kilometers per hour, some high clouds expected, minimum temperatures between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius, and the sea light to moderate with waves of 1 to 5 feet.

Regarding Saturday’s daytime weather, Al-Ali said it will be very hot, with northwesterly winds at light to moderate speeds ranging between 12 and 38 kilometers per hour, maximum temperatures between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius, and the sea light to moderate with waves of 2 to 5 feet. He noted that Saturday night will be hot to moderate, with northwesterly winds light to moderate in speed ranging between 10 and 32 kilometers per hour, minimum temperatures between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius, and the sea light to moderate with waves of 2 to 4 feet.(KUNA)
