KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Abdul Latif Al- Mishari has approved the Municipal Council’s decision to close private schools located in residential areas by the end of the 2027/2028 academic year. During the approval of the minutes of the meeting on this matter, Al-Mishari added a clause stipulating that sites designated for private schools will not be handed over until approval is obtained from the General Traffic Department, and a traffic study approved by the relevant authorities is submitted.

Meanwhile, Minister Al-Mishari highlighted his objection to three decisions previously approved by the Municipal Council. The first objection was concerning a proposal submitted by Vice President Khaled Al-Mutairi to add “car wash and detailing” to the list of permitted activities in Abu Futaira, Qurain Markets, and Ardiya Industrial. He also opposed the proposal to allow the licensing of part of the sidewalk for the placement of refreshments and water coolers for businesses, including grocery stores food establishments, and central food markets, requesting that the ministerial decision be amended for further study. The third objection was to a proposal submitted by member Nasser Al- Jadaan regarding the creation of a temporary entrance to Rumaithiya from the service road of Fahaheel Road.
