Kuwait to see unstable weather from Saturday evening to Sunday
Kuwait Meteorological Department forecasts scattered rain and possible thunderstorms across Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: Kuwait is set to experience unstable weather starting Saturday evening and continuing until Sunday afternoon, the Meteorological Department said.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali said weather conditions across the country are expected to deteriorate due to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, with chances of scattered rain of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali said weather maps and numerical forecasts indicate that the country will be affected by unstable conditions beginning Saturday evening as a cold front passes through, accompanied by the extension of a surface low-pressure system. This will coincide with an upper-level low-pressure system, leading to the formation of low- and mid-level clouds, occasionally interspersed with cumulonimbus clouds.

He explained that there is a chance of scattered light to moderate rainfall, which may become heavy at times, particularly in coastal areas, and could be accompanied by thunderstorms in some locations until Sunday afternoon.

The unstable weather will be accompanied by active southeasterly winds that are expected to shift to brisk northwesterly winds. Al-Ali said wind speeds may exceed 60 kilometers per hour at times, causing dust storms and reduced horizontal visibility in some areas, while sea waves could rise to more than seven feet.

He added that minimum temperatures are expected to range between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures will range between 17 and 22 degrees Celsius. Weather conditions are forecast to gradually improve starting Sunday afternoon.
