KUWAIT CITY, Oct 27: A newly discovered comet, C/2025 R2-Swan, will be visible in the Kuwaiti skies until the end of November, the Space and Astronomy Museum at Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Center announced Monday.

The comet, discovered on September 11 by astronomer Vladimir Bezogly, can be observed with simple binoculars after sunset and until midnight on the southern horizon, particularly in areas away from light pollution.

According to the museum, the comet’s diameter has not yet been precisely determined. It is expected to reach magnitude 10.7+ on Thursday, October 30, before gradually dimming and moving further into space.

C/2025 R2-Swan is classified as a long-period comet, with an orbital period of approximately 654 years, and is currently located 43 million kilometers from Earth. The museum reassured the public that the comet poses no danger, noting that Earth remains safely positioned between the largest celestial bodies in the solar system, such as Saturn and Jupiter, whose strong gravity prevents any destructive objects from intersecting Earth’s orbit.

Visitors can track the movement of this comet and others through the planetarium at the museum, where advanced programs allow accurate observation of comets, planets, and their orbital paths.
