Kuwait to See Dense Fog Formation and Chilly Nights in Coming Days

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 12: Acting Director of the Meteorological Department, Dharar Al-Ali, announced on Friday that Kuwait is expected to experience humid and foggy conditions late Friday night and into the early hours of Saturday. He warned that horizontal visibility may drop to less than 1,000 meters and could completely vanish in certain areas due to dense fog.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Ali explained that current weather maps, satellite imagery, and numerical forecast models indicate that the country is being influenced by an extension of a high-pressure system moving in from the west. This system is accompanied by a cool and humid air mass, creating favorable conditions for a gradual rise in relative humidity. As humidity increases overnight, widespread fog is likely to develop, significantly reducing visibility and, in some locations, causing complete obscuration.

Al-Ali added that visibility is expected to improve gradually during the daytime hours on Saturday as the fog dissipates. However, he cautioned that the potential for fog formation will remain in some areas over the coming days, particularly during late-night and early-morning periods when humidity peaks.

He also noted that maximum temperatures in the coming days are forecast to range between 19°C and 22°C, while minimum temperatures will drop to between 7°C and 10°C, reflecting the influence of the cooler air mass affecting the country.
