Kuwait to host World Freediving Championship

KUWAIT CITY, April 30: More than 350 divers representing 44 countries will participate in the World Freediving Championship for men and women, to be held in the State of Kuwait from May 7 to May 13. According to Engineer Talal Al-Sarhan, head of the Kuwaiti Diving and Rescue Club, the championship is a prelude to more tournaments, and the state is fully prepared to host it and showcase it in the best possible way.
The participation of a large number of athletes in the championship competitions reflects Kuwait’s leadership in organizing regional and international championships. The Kuwaiti men’s national team includes Hassan Al-Sharah, Hamad Al-Kandari, Youssef Al-Mowail, Hamad Ismail and Abdullah Al-Hammad, while the women’s team includes Mai Al-Badr, Sheikha Buarki, Zainab Al-Wazzan, Maryam Al-Qattan and Alia Al-Salem. Al-Sarhan acknowledged the support of the Public Authority for Sports and the Kuwait Olympic Committee in hosting the tournament, and urged the public to support the national team to achieve success in light of Kuwait’s hosting of the tournament.
