KUWAIT CITY, Oct 19 (KUNA): President of the Kuwait Modern Pentathlon Federation, Nasser Al-Waleed, announced that Kuwait will host the inaugural West Asian Modern Pentathlon Championship in November next year.
Al-Waleed, who also serves as Vice President of the West Asian Federation, explained that this will be the first edition of the tournament to feature the full range of modern pentathlon disciplines — fencing, swimming, obstacle course, running, and laser shooting.
He highlighted that hosting such a prestigious event reflects Kuwait’s advancement in both the technical and administrative aspects of the sport, noting that it aligns with the federation’s vision to establish a professional and sustainable structure for modern pentathlon in the country.
Al-Waleed added that over the past three years, several Kuwaiti athletes have participated in official international competitions, achieving notable rankings and medals in record time. These accomplishments, he said, encouraged international bodies to award Kuwait the right to host major regional events.
He concluded by expressing his gratitude to the West Asian Federation for its trust in Kuwait’s organizational capabilities, and extended special thanks to Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Kuwait Olympic Committee President Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser, and the Public Authority for Sport leadership for their unwavering support of Kuwait’s modern pentathlon athletes.
