Kuwait to host Asian Shooting Championship with 17 teams

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29 (KUNA): The Kuwait Asian Shooting Championship is set to begin on Friday at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Shooting Complex, featuring 17 national teams and running until November 8.

Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, stated at a press conference on Wednesday that hosting the championship underscores the strong support Kuwait’s leadership provides to the sport. He highlighted that the tournament will showcase high-level competition among elite shooters and serves as an important preparatory event ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic qualification tournaments.

Al-Otaibi also confirmed that 15 Kuwaiti referees will officiate the event, alongside officials from Qatar, the UAE, Morocco, and other Asian nations. In addition, the championship will host the Asian Shooting Confederation’s General Assembly, chaired by Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah.

Meanwhile, Obeid Al-Osaimi, Secretary-General of the Kuwait Shooting Federation, emphasized that the Kuwaiti national team is fully prepared after intensive training, expressing confidence in the shooters’ ability to secure medals and podium finishes.
