Kuwait to Cover Extra Import Costs to Ensure Steady Supply of Essential Goods

KUWAIT CITY, Apr 2: The Kuwait government has issued a new decree aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted flow of essential goods into the country and stabilizing prices in the local market amid exceptional supply chain conditions.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, led by Minister Osama Boodai, said the directive provides financial support for additional costs incurred by importing companies when standard sea, land, or air routes are disrupted.

The measure defines “exceptional circumstances” as situations that cause disruption to supply routes, requiring companies to use alternative transportation methods to maintain the flow of essential goods.

Authorities said the initiative is designed to safeguard national supply chains, prevent shortages, and maintain price stability for consumers during periods of regional or logistical disruption.

The Government Communication Center said the decree reflects ongoing efforts to ensure market resilience and continuity of imports under challenging conditions.
