KUWAIT CITY, May 18: The Civil Service Bureau has issued a circular to ministries, government agencies, public bodies and institutions requiring the update and verification of academic qualification data for employees who obtained degrees from outside Kuwait before they can be nominated for supervisory positions.
According to the circular, academic certificates issued abroad must be officially accredited and equivalent-certified by the Ministry of Higher Education as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen transparency, governance and the credibility of educational data within the public sector.
The directive was issued following a request from the Committee for Examining Academic Certificates of Employees in Government Agencies and the Private Sector, covering both citizens and residents working in entities subject to the Civil Service Law and its regulations.
Informed sources said the requirement aims to regulate and ensure the accreditation of foreign academic qualifications in line with national standards, while also verifying the reliability of educational credentials and the eligibility of employees seeking leadership and supervisory roles in government institutions.
