He stated that this is an opportune time for Kuwait and Thailand to work together to achieve a lot, not only for their citizens, but also for the world in general. He added that the relationship between Kuwait and Thailand, spanning more than six decades of friendship, have witnessed numerous milestones, including significant developments in diplomatic relations at the highest level. He pointed out the deep mutual respect between the leadership of the two countries, which is based on close ties between their peoples. He indicated that two years after the first political consultation between the two countries, he is now working with the concerned Kuwaiti authorities to plan the second meeting in Kuwait, in addition to discussions between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
He expressed his desire to explore more opportunities for cooperation between various government entities and to create a suitable environment for advancing negotiations on bilateral agreements. He stated that Thailand and Kuwait already have a strong trade base, with the volume of trade between the two countries reaching $947 million in 2025. He revealed that the exports of Thailand to Kuwait include automobiles, auto parts, wood products, and precious stones and jewelry, while the imports of his country from Kuwait include refined petroleum products, crude oil and chemical products. He asserted that the real opportunity lies in transitioning from the traditional buyer-seller relationship to a value-added partnership that achieves sustainable growth for both countries. He said Thailand aspires to become a long-term strategic partner for Kuwait, particularly in areas that support the priorities of Kuwait Vision 2035 like food security, healthcare and tourism. He disclosed that Thailand offers a wide range of investment opportunities complementing the long-term development priorities of Kuwait, such as food processing, agribusiness, healthcare, tourism and hospitality. He confirmed that Thailand has a sophisticated investment ecosystem, supported by attractive incentives offered by the Board of Investment (BOI) in Thailand, along with modern infrastructure and a strategic location in the heart of Southeast Asia, providing investors with access to the broader ASEAN market. He stated that the volume of bilateral investments remains limited, but has growth potential.
He said the Embassy of Thailand is working hard to enhance mutual investment flows between Thailand and Kuwait, including plans to engage with the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) in order to facilitate and encourage Thai investments in Kuwait. He added that the embassy is also in discussions to strengthen communication between Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and BOI, to jointly explore new opportunities for Kuwaiti investment in Thailand. He also affirmed that Kuwaiti citizens can enter Thailand visafree for tourism or short-term business visits. He revealed that last year, Thailand welcomed around 87,000 visitors from Kuwait -- about 5.8 percent of the total population of Kuwait, indicating that this number gradually increased from around 44,000 visitors in 2022. He explained that for Kuwaiti residents, as well as for other types of visas for Kuwaitis, Thailand officially launched its e-Visa system in January 2025 through the website: thaievisa.go.th. He indicated that medical services and medical tourism are among the greatest strengths of Thailand. He said his country has 61 hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), and that Thailand caters to a large number of international patients from the Gulf region annually, including many from Kuwait.
He stated that the health tourism sector in his country welcomed more than 580,000 international visitors in 2025. He went on to disclose that there are five direct flights per week between Kuwait and Thailand, adding that the embassy is currently coordinating with the relevant authorities and airlines in Kuwait to increase the number of direct flights to other popular tourist destinations in Thailand, such as Phuket and Chiang Mai. He asserted that his country considers the Kuwait Vision 2035 an important roadmap not only for Kuwait, but for the prosperity of both countries as well. He also confirmed that his country is closely monitoring the regional developments, particularly those related to the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on global stability. He expressed his gratitude to the Kuwaiti government and people for ensuring the safety of the Thai community here, stressing that Thailand consistently calls for respect for international law to protect civilian lives and maintain supply chains.
He added that his country welcomes the agreement reached between the United States of America and Iran, and appreciates the efforts of all parties involved in pursuing dialogue. He emphasized that Thailand is a true friend, urging Kuwaitis who might be considering visiting Thailand for leisure, medical treatment, education or business, to discover the best that Thailand has to offer --from world-class hospitality to world-class healthcare. He said his country boasts of a rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and diverse investment opportunities suitable for everyone. He confirmed that the embassy provides consular services related to passport issuance, emergency travel documents and official documents. He then highlighted the efforts of the embassy in protecting the rights of the Thai community here. He revealed that there are about 1,080 Thai citizens in Kuwait, including women married to Kuwaitis and others who are residing in the country.
